RESPONSE
In response to Covid-19, the DDC has implemented several emergency outreach efforts on the frontlines. Our mission to help people who are struggling is greater than ever. The DDC is 1 of 2 mobile food pantries in Volusia County which makes it possible to meet the needs of people right where they’re at. We have reached hundreds of families with free groceries, distributed thousands of mobile meals, and partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida to host over 20 mobile food drops.
IMPACT
The DDC has distributed over one million pounds of food to Volusia County residents, the equivalent to hundreds of thousands of meals. Our various outreaches have reached and impacted essential workers, seniors, families affected by Covid-19, single mothers, foster families, homeless, shut-ins, dialysis patients, and people who are autoimmune compromised. Over the last year, the pressing need for food and essential baby items such as formula and diapers has continued to grow. As the requests for assistance continue to come in, all financial support received will go toward Covid-19 relief efforts.
A big part of the vision for the DDC is to partner with our community to help more people. We can’t do what we do without our volunteers and partners. There is power in partnership and serving. It’s beautiful to see the unity between people of different backgrounds and various organizations coming together for a common goal, and that is to provide a helping hand to our community!
